Uniting Family
Day Care

Quality home-based childcare options for Queensland families.

Uniting Early Learning offers Family Day Care options for families who prefer a smaller childcare environment in a local educator’s home. Whether you’re in the regions or the city our commitment is the same: we’re dedicated to seeing your child play, explore, learn and flourish.

Family Day Care allows greater flexibility, diversity and tailoring of care to your child’s unique needs than traditional childcare, and it’s ideal for families who:

  • prefer a home-based environment for early childhood education
  • prefer their child to socialise in smaller groups
  • require out of standard hours childcare

Each educator offers a bespoke education and care service in their own home. Families are matched with educators whose location and services meet their needs.

It may include:

  • Care for children aged 0-12 in small mixed groups
  • Care at an hourly rate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Full time care
  • Part time care
  • Before and after school care
  • 24 hour care
  • Casual/On Call care
  • School holiday care
  • Relief care
  • Care for children with additional needs

Uniting Family Day Care is owned and operated by Uniting Early Learning (part of the Uniting Church in Queensland Synod). Our Service is fully regulated by the Department of Education Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, and is an approved service for Child Care Subsidy and Inclusion Support Services.

How do fees work?

At your initial interview the Family Day Care educator will give you a copy of their fee schedule outlining the costs.

Educator’s hourly fees

Each educator is a self-employed contractor who runs their business from home with the support, mentoring and guidance of the Uniting Family Day Care team.

Each individual educator sets their own fee structure within the guidelines of Service policies and government regulations.

Service Family Levy

An hourly Family Levy is added to the Educator’s hourly fee and the total fee is displayed on the fee schedule. The total fee is eligible for Child Care Subsidy up to the CCS hourly rate cap.

Government Subsidy

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is administered through Centrelink/Services Australia and may be applicable to reduce your fees, depending on your eligibility. For more information about CCS visit:   www.familyassist.gov.au or www.centrelink.gov.au

Frequently Asked Questions

Monday to Friday:   8.30am – 4.00pm

Each educator operates as an independent contractor and sets their own fees and charges. You can discuss the cost of care directly with the educator. All fees are paid by direct debit each week.

When your educator is unavailable and care is still required, please contact our office to enquire about availability of an alternate educator.  Where there is availability, one of our coordinators will organise for another educator to provide alternate care for your child.

An educator may provide care for a maximum of four (4) children under school age, including their own children. In addition to the four (4) children, educators may provide care for three (3) children of school age (including their own children under the age of 13).

The Child Care Subsidy is the main way the Government will assist families with their child care fees. The amount of subsidy you receive will be determined by the activity test and your annual family income.

To estimate the amount of support you may receive under the CCS system, visit the Payment and Service Finder page on the Centrelink website.  This can help you to find, estimate and compare payments and services that you may be eligible for. Please note that this calculator will suggest all potential payments for you to explore further, based on the information you provide, not just CCS.
