RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN VISION FOR RECONCILIATION
Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, and a national culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared history and removal of negative race relations. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In the context of our organisation, this represents equal and equitable educational opportunities and outcomes for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and an inclusive and diverse workplace that is not just culturally safe, but culturally rich and proud. We are committed to working in a respectful way with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and communities. Bramble Bay Family Day Care will do this by:
- Recognising the diverse and dynamic nature of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.
- Acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ deep connections with lands, waters and communities.
Our vision for a reconciled Australia is a place where:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ cultures are valued, respected and affirmed across all areas of society.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ rights are recognised and protected under Australian Law.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and all children, have the equal and equitable opportunities to exercise choices about the way in which they lead meaningful, healthy lives, including those which sustain their cultures.
We acknowledge the RAP is a continual process and we will add to it and grow individually, as a team and as an organisation. Our commitment mirrors our values of respect for diversity, inclusion, advocating the rights of children, justice, honesty and courage. It is our goal that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage is embedded so respectfully and deeply in the future that it is entrenched in our being, belonging and becoming.
In support of sustainable and meaningful reconciliation, Bramble Bay Family Day Care welcomes all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and remains committed to sourcing and attending opportunities to increase staff and community awareness of the longstanding and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
By establishing a better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, we develop an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage and move towards the maturity of Australia as a nation. This will lead to the development of an Australian Identity based on mutual respect and trust and support reconciliation.
